Students from all 3 Rutland colleges attended the 2nd annual Student Voice Conference on 27th January, entitled ‘Voices for Change’ . The event which was organised and hosted by Uppingham Community College, saw the students in workshops on a variety of subjects such as ‘students as learning partners, student governors and healthy schools.’ They also had a keynote speech from Sarah Katsipi from Corby Business and Enterprise College and developed other areas where they could play an active role in the life of their own college.

‘I believe very strongly that young people should play a leading role in their school lives and should be proactive in developing their own ideas’ said Mrs Turner, Principal, Uppingham Community College.

‘It was extremely inspiring to hear everyone’s views and we came away with lots of good ideas for the future.’ Lauren Reid, Year 11, Uppingham Community College.
