What kind of resources will I find in the LRC?

There’s a wide range of resources including:

• Fiction and non-fiction books

• Quick Reads and graphic novels

• A 14+ selection for older students and staff

• A range of magazines and newpapers

• DVDs, videos and audio-books

What other facilities are available?

• There are seventeen networked computers, three scanners and a colour printer for student and staff use.

• Our automated catalogue (ALICE) is networked to students’ individual user areas allowing them access to LRC stock throughout the college.

• A black and white photocopier is also available for student and staff use.

Student Librarians

We have an excellent team of student helpers who assist in a range of duties at break and luchtimes. These students from Year 8 to 11, provide invaluable help and support at the busiest times of day.

What other things does the LRC provide?

There’s a number of on-going events and activities in the LRC:

• Author visits

• Poetry Picnics and Book Club

• Book Fairs and Book Talking events

• Library induction programmes and research skills modules which aim to give Year 7 students a working knowledge of the library and how to use it.

• A Careers Room adjacent to the library offers information on option choices, Further and Higher Education, jobs and careers and much, much more.
